LEARN & NETWORK

Join Kaleidoscope Plus for our 2 day virtual conference, Mending Minds be inspired and learn how to build mental health resilience and finding coping strategies in a post pandemic world.

Why?

We have all been affected by the global pandemic that is Covid, in one way or another and so it is vital that we support each other in our journeys and learn to find ways to not just cope, but thrive, in what is being referred to as our ‘New Normal’

What to expect?

This event is not like others. We are using a highly interactive platform that enables us to stream videos, offering you fantastic visual content and allow you optimum chances to talk with like minded people, all in the comfort of your own home!

Mending Minds 2022 will be delivered via a highly interactive, 3D environment. We will have keynote presentations with Q&A. We also have a feature of on-demand coping strategy workshops and interactive partner exhibits within the show floor.

We kick off each day with a 30 min well-being session and there will be plenty ofopportunities to network throughout.

Speakers

Our speakers are all inspirational people who have been on their own incredible journeys through mental health and their stories are guaranteed to move and inspire you.

Workshops

Our conference workshops will dive deep into the coping strategies used by our speakers, and attendees will be able to talk to KPG experts about how to deploy techniques into their everyday lives. Our aim is that you walk away not only inspired but with the knowledge of how to deploy these strategies into your everyday life.

Wellness

We kick off each day with a 30 min wellness session and there will be plenty of opportunities to network throughout.

Why should I attend?

The saying goes ‘it’s ok to not be ok’ and this is true for the most part. However, the reality is if we do not care for ourselves, look after our mental health and learn how to be resilient in the face of change, we may find ourselves in trouble.

That is why we ask you to join us on the 26th and 27th of January so you can find some real solutions and learn coping strategies that you can adapt to make work for you, in your everyday lives. A chance for you to share your experiences, good and bad and be part of the Kaleidoscope Plus Group community that will support you throughout your ups and downs now and in the future.

Speakers

Wendy Smith

Mental health matters and so does your mental fitness. Nurturing a healthy environment on the inside will aid every aspect of your daily life and interactions, it will allow you to manage stress and become more efficient, balanced and productive. We all have an inner map of reality that is created throughout our life and runs on autopilot, becoming aware of this and how it operates is the key to change. Mental fitness is the skill you can then develop to continue improving sifting and sorting through your internal workings to generate more of what you want in life. It is all an inside job, time to workout the brain and not just the body.

Sammy Woodhouse

Sammy Woodhouse is an English activist against child sexual abuse. She was a victim of the Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal, which she helped expose by giving an anonymous interview to Andrew Norfolk of The Times.

Colin Maclachlan

Former SAS man Colin Maclachlan endured some of the most daring operations to date and when he is not working on TV or Video Games is actively involved as patron or ambassador for various mental health charities and has his own charity ‘Who Dares Cares’ which helps support anyone involved with the military or blue light services in dealing with stress.

Colin Maclachlan, star of Channel Four's captivating reality TV drama SAS: Who Dares Wins and Channel 5’s ‘Secrets of the SAS’ is an operator with over 25 years of security and risk related experience.

Colin joined the army in 1989 and after 9 years in the Royal Scots passed selection first time aged 23 into 22 SAS. Colin was fortunate enough to have been involved in some of the more high profile and daring missions of the recent period. Only a handful of men have been involved in hostage negotiations, hostage rescue and been a hostage themselves and Colin is one of them. He waded through stinking swamps in Sierra Leone in West Africa to hunt down the West Side Boys, a guerilla gang holding five British soldiers hostage. It was a mission so daring and dangerous they nicknamed it Operation Certain Death. The SAS recce teams secured the hostages' building and neutralised any West Side Boys prior to the main assault arriving and secured the prison building before the rest of the unit arrived wiping out the terrorists in 2000.

He was also the first sniper on the scene when a hijacked Afghan flight with 180 passengers landed in London in the same year, sparking a stand-off that lasted four days and was the longest standing hostage siege on UK soil to date. But four years later Colin found himself on the other side of a rescue mission after he was taken hostage in the Iraqi city of Basra. Blindfolded, battered and stripped naked, he felt a gun pressed to his head and heard them pull the trigger in what was a mock execution. Father-of-two Colin only survived long enough for British troops to rescue him because the terrorists who held him wanted to film his suffering in a propaganda video before they executed him.

Colin left the SAS shortly after doing an exchange programme with both Delta Force and Seal Team 6 and after doing security consultancy for the Saudi Royal Family, A-List Celebrities and US Media Networks decided to fund himself through university where he attained a First Class MA (Hons.) in History from Edinburgh University and an M.Litt in Terrorism from St. Andrews University. Colin is now involved in TV, Book, Radio and Video Games and also does a lot with charity being involved as Ambassador for the Lee Rigby Foundation, Pilgrim Bandits, Veterans Garage and NSPCC among others. He has also just founded his own charity Who Dares Cares that aims to link and support veterans as well as others that encounter stress. As well as local community issues, Colin writes and edits articles on Mental Health and Stress.

Having had both an exciting and varied career, Colin is an excellent speaker on a wide variety of topics including Resilience, Teamwork, Leadership and Mental Health
